Maintain strong knowledge of systems furniture and furniture product applications
Ability to effectively communicate intent, plans, status, issues, alternatives, solutions, and to resolve conflicts
Work with in-house sales/design team and various A&D firms on furniture selections and layouts, while maintaining consistency with client furniture standards
Create specifications and design service quotes as well as prepare presentation package
Review furniture layouts and specifications to ensure accuracy, consistency with standards and space functionality. Identify issues and resolve
Collaborate with Architect or Interior Designer to meet functional, aesthetic and budgetary requirements
Conduct interior space planning for commercial environments; including but not limited to specification of office furniture, finishes, and related products
Consult with general contractors, architects and other consultants, as needed
Field verify space dimensions, conditions and when applicable, existing furniture inventory
Attend product training classes offered and other courses appropriate to position
Readily share knowledge with designers and other roles on an on-going basis
Develop and maintain best practices and design standards
Work with director on workload distribution across design team
Create training material for designers and other functions with an emphasis on the design role

5+ years experience in a related field
Office furniture experience required. Knowledge of Steelcase systems strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to maintain effective performance when faced with time pressures, competing priorities and deadlines
Demonstrated ability to develop working relationships with internal and external clients


Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related field
Proficient in AutoCAD required
Knowledge of local building codes, ADA compliances and ergonomics required
Managing resources, schedules and budgets, conducting presentations and project meetings to clients
Excellent communication, organization and PC skills
Ability to analyze and problem solve effectively and creatively
Excellent leadership and team facilitation skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Detail-oriented, highly motivated and ambitious


NCIDQ registration preferred
LEEDS CI preferred
Knowledge of CAP or other furniture specification software preferred
Knowledge of rendering software preferred
Knowledge of local building codes, ADA compliance and ergonomics
Presentation and facilitation skills preferred
