WilsherCo, Inc., a specialized instrumentation products and full services solutions provider that provides heat tracing system design, installation and maintenance, and custom heat trace panel design, fabrication and assembly, is looking for a highly motivated and qualified leader to lead and supervise its design and estimating team.

WilsherCo’s design and estimating team is responsible for developing designs and estimates for heat tracing systems per customer specifications, to successfully ensure customer satisfaction and profitability. This includes identifying heat tracing requirements from customers’ drawings, specifications, instructions and requests for proposals (RFQs), preparing heat tracing isometrics, panelboard schedules, cable schedules, instrument schedules, wiring diagrams, bill of materials (BOMs), and location plans, and using AutoCAD, Navisworks and other industry tools, guidelines and procedures to design heat tracing systems.

The Design Manager will lead these efforts and manage the team of designer drafters, plan and coordinate with other WilsherCo departments such as sales, operations, customers, contractors and subcontractors as needed through the life of a project. Although this is a supervisor role, this individual will also have specific design projects that he/she will be working on at the same time while managing others work. This will be a working supervisor position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Lead and manage WilsherCo’s Design/Estimating team and associated work load, set priorities and meet deadlines to ensure timeliness and accuracy of deliverables.
• Interact with Sales, Project Managers, Operations and others internally to successfully complete estimates and projects.
• Interact and consult with customer representatives on technical and related issues, and to define and develop scope of work for project opportunities.
• Effectively communicate (oral and written) with other team members, clients, and subcontractors.
• Conduct site surveys to gather information required for heat tracing design.
• Use CAD and other tools to generate isometric and other project drawings and documentation, and review and approve drawings.
• Facilitate budgetary design estimates, finalized job books and panel schedules.
• Review and finalize heat trace and panel designs.
• Work with Operations to create as builds.
• Communicate with customers and WilsherCo field techs on redlines and technical support as it relates to design, including change orders and adders.
• Work on different projects simultaneously.
• Contribute toward the team environment and shared culture of WilsherCo.
• Contribute to methods of improving work processes.
• Proactively manage all stakeholder expectations.
• Establish client relationships at appropriate level.
• Maintain communications with Clients, team members and subcontractors regarding project details, planned execution strategy and/or design revisions.
• Provide regular project status/updates.
• Promote a safety focused culture throughout.
• Conduct technical design reviews and analysis, as needed.

• A degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology is a plus. Significant electrical and/or heat tracing experience may qualify in leu of degree.
• Computer literate – Basic MS Office skills, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and other associated applications.
• Heat tracing design experience is a plus.
• Basic technical knowledge of electricity (Ohm’s Law, voltage, amperage, circuits).
• Basic technical knowledge of piping and insulation systems and components.
• Basic knowledge of Piping & Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Basic knowledge of associated codes and standards that pertain to heat tracing.
• Be a self-starter/self-motivated, detail oriented.
• Electrical construction experience a plus.
