Job Description

SUMMARY: Responsible for supporting the editorial teams of the NACE magazines, magazine web sites, and related products such as supplements and newsletters through article lead generation, research and content development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Work with magazine staff members, other departments within NACE, and outside contacts to develop story leads.
• Research and assist in writing articles and departments as assigned for the magazines, their web sites and newsletters.
• Assist with research on articles written by other staff members.
• Locate and secure permission for photography use, including cover photos.
• Perform duties as assigned on special projects such as the compilation and editing of NACE area and industry newsletters, special sections, year-end indexes, and magazine awards program support.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
There are no supervisory responsibilities

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Strong research and writing skills are also requirements of the position. Optional but not required: Skills in social media and SEO.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Up to 10% travel is expected for this role.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of one to two years of experience, preferably in editing and writing

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical manuscripts, technical articles, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with authors, members, or employees of the organization, as well as other contacts.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
Must have good word processing and spreadsheet software skills. Ability to learn and use association specific software. Excellent proofreading and/or editing skills in addition to having the ability to handle multiple projects that have set deadlines.
