As the Manufacturing Engineer with FlexDecks, Inc., you will work with the team of project managers and designers to effectively communicate the product design to the manufacturing floor and ensure it is fabricated efficiently, safely, and with the highest standard of quality. This position will require significant time on the production floor and will gain experience in several areas of manufacturing including but not limited too; process development/improvement, project management, quality assurance, prototyping, CNC programming and operation, and heavy equipment maintenance.

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
o Develop familiarity with company manufacturing processes and procedures.
o Develop familiarity with company product line, from the first cut to final installation.
o Ability to read and comprehend engineering drawings and schematics.
o Work with engineering, designers and project managers to develop production lists for both profile-based parts and plate parts. Work with engineering to ensure SolidWorks Data is more reliable.
o Responsible for production process improvements. Monitor material processing progress for accuracy & quality.
o Use the tracking and routing systems in place to ensure correct part fabrication.
o Familiarize and have ability to program CNC machining equipment. This includes 3-axis vertical milling center, 3-axis waterjet, 3-axis plasma system, CNC hydraulic shear, CNC hydraulic punch, CNC hydraulic press brake and CNC miter saw.
o Develop familiarity with FlexDecks equipment maintenance program and work with operators to effectively maintain heavy industrial equipment.
o Assist operators with complex programming, fixturing, tooling & operating in times of need.
o Maintain and repair fabrication equipment when necessary.
o Knowledge, use & safe operation of common power tools, common material handling and rigging equipment & common industrial processing tools/types.
o Knowledge and experience processing different material types and grades desirable but not required, i.e., carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum (6061 / 5052, etc.).
o Ability to identify structural materials such as channel, I-beam, flat bar, etc.
o Ability to read and operate a tape measure, square, and angle finder.
o Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
o Ability to receive and understand specific instructions and carry out those instructions to completion.
o Aptitude for learning, ability to multi-task and problem solve.
o Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.
o Willing to work possible overtime & weekends.
o Ability to communicate in English required, both written & verbal skills.
o Position requires work in an open machine & fabrication shop production area. Must have the ability to walk long distances, ascend/descend stairs & stand for long periods of time within a noisy shop environment with fluctuating temperatures/humidity. Personal Protection Equipment is required in all fabrication shop areas. Position also requires ability to safely lift (bend ones knees) and handle up to 50 lbs.
o Assist in other areas of production and perform of other tasks, as directed.
Additional Responsibilities and Duties:
o Familiarize, understand, and use all standard operating procedures determined by FlexDecks and equipment manufacturers in relation to use of fabrication equipment.
o Ensure that product standards, both quality and quantity are met.
o Interpret dimensions, material types, and material grades on cut lists or drawings.
o Apply all safety measures when working in the shop and with machines / power tools.
o Maintain a positive attitude and further develop and maintain a cohesive team-oriented work environment with all employees, vendors, and customers, and support the company in all decisions.
o Familiarize and understand all FlexDecks employment policies such as work hours / days, quality standards, drug screening, safety guidelines, and all policies outlining employee behavior at FlexDecks facility.

Education & Experience:
o Education: Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field from four-year college or university having an accredited engineering degree program.

o Experience: One plus (1+) years mechanical, technical experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
o Previous experience with programming, maintenance & repair of CNC machining equipment or other similar equipment.
o Hands-on experience with heavy industrial or agricultural equipment preferred.
o Prior welding experience is a plus.
o Prior exposure to SolidWorks is a plus.
