Interested in joining us? Matheson has an exciting and unique opportunity for an experienced Station Manager in our Philadelphia, PA location.

As a successful Station Manager, you will monitor operations to ensure that staff members comply with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, contracts, and government regulations. You will plan, organize, or manage the work of subordinate staff. You will analyze expenditures and other financial information to develop plans, policies, or budgets for increasing profits or improving services, ensuring expenses are consistent with approved budgets. You will complete all required reports, and substitute for other managers during absence. You will be expected to hold weekly safety meetings, manage any injury/accident events with Risk Management, conduct safety reports and investigations as required, address employee voiced safety issues, and resolve any safety hazards within the station/operation. You will establish employee schedules and work hours, review employee time sheets, manage hours to eliminate overtime, and correct employ ee punch errors. You will counsel, discipline and coach employees, conduct employee training, ensure adequate staffing, monitor attendance, track shifts, correct payroll errors and make adjustments as needed. You will ensure staff is adequately trained, recommend operational improvements, and seek out business opportunities.

Skills & Qualifications:
* Planning and decision making are essential aspects of this position; however, the successful station manager is expected to organize activities under pressure with the available time and labor and to make quick decisions oftentimes by changing plans or strategies to achieve the daily objectives.
* Effective communication is crucial for the station manager to ensure a unified workforce.Formal and informal communications with employees, upper management and Company’s customers are essential to promote collaboration with the team, prevent conflicts, and resolve issues.
* Problem solving is another critical skill the successful station manager must demonstrate in order to identify operational problems or challenging situations, and then to find the best solutions for success even when the conditions are not ideal.
* Leading and motivating staff in a positive and professional manner to bring out the best performance and behaviors of employees is one of the keys to being successful at Matheson. Must demonstrate the ability to preserve a strong team culture while successfully interacting with a diverse spectrum of personalities.
* Accountability and maintenance of facility and critical assets, such as warehouse management and safety audits, maintenance and housekeeping to OSHA standards, tractor trailer fleet maintenance, safety, and driver DOT and FMCSA compliance are required.
* Type at least 30 words / minute; intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel; Workforce Management Systems, such as Oracle People Soft or a cloud based HCM system like Ceridian Dayforce, and a Fleet Management System, and Android Enterprise devices (scanning equipment) fto capture and analyze productivity.
* Qualify for and maintain TSA and and/or USPS clearance.
* Pass all company required assessments including drug screen and criminal background.
* Hold a valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record that will pass the criteria set by our insurance carrier for on the job coverage.

The successful candidate will have
* A background in airport operations or, in lieu of this, have well developed just-in-time logistics skills in a warehousing or manufacturing environment.
* Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite products, as well as Workforce Management System and SAP platforms at the user level.
* Direct experience managing and coaching staff, and have a demonstrated the ability to lead and motivate staff in a positive and professional manner.
* Proven experience overseeing all aspects of employee relations, such as payroll, scheduling, performance evaluations, and counseling, as required.
* Be a highly energetic and passionate leader who can drive performance through creative, out-of-the box solutions that boost overall productivity and station wide-performance.

Shift: 10:00 PM – 10:00 AM

*** Must have 24/7 on call availability during the 12-hour shift cycle.

Education/Experience: Minimum of 10 years’ managerial experience in warehouse/flight operations with a minimum of 25 – 50 direct and indirect staff. Experience with MS Excel and other Microsoft Office products. Previous experience with Federal Express, UPS or DHL or air operations is highly desirable, as well as experience with lean six sigma in an operational or manufacturing environment.
