KXLN is seeking a take-charge producer who will own the weekend newscast from beginning to end. We are looking for a dynamic, creative producer to take our weekend newscast to the next level. The ideal candidate will have vision, solid news judgment, ability to multitask and manage their time, as well as proficient in all aspects of social media.

Job Responsibilities

Crafting newscast. Including stacking, writing, editing copy, ordering graphics, coordinating live shots with directors, production staff, reporters and photographers
Eye for visual elements
Responsible for developing original story ideas for daily newscasts
Working with reporters on story treatment
Must be able to perform well under pressure, manage breaking news situations, meet strict deadlines, and respond quickly to changes
Be a leader, facilitating teamwork of staff members
Ability to calmly handle decision making in the control room
Compelling and accurate writer
Writing and posting content to social media
Creation of graphics
Knowledge of current events
Excellent communication skills
Knowledge of Television production and newsroom computer systems required
Work flexible hours, including holidays, weekends and evenings.
Ability to work with limited supervision is a must

Required Skills & Experience

Minimum of five years’ experience producing local news in a medium to large TV market.
Effective news writing ability for all platforms
Knowledge of News gathering equipment and computers, including I-News
Strong organization and motivational skills.
Must be highly motivated, aggressive, and results-oriented
Ability to identify problems and develop solutions.
Candidate must have strong journalistic standards and ethics

Desired Skills and Experience

A college degree in Journalism, Radio/Television or related field from accredited University preferred.
Excellent and grammatically accurate Spanish language skills – both written and oral
Bilingual – fluency in English and Spanish

Eligibility Requirements

Must be willing to work from office in Houston, TX
Employment/education will be verified
Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
